Shot Fired: Shoplifter Flees Long Island Mall After Altercation

Police are searching for a man who fired a shot in a Long Island mall after he was allegedly caught shoplifting.

 Authorities are looking for this man, who they say fired a gun after he got into a fight with a security guard over shoplifting at the Green Acres Mall on Monday, Oct. 23.

It happened on Monday, Oct. 23 in Valley Stream, according to Nassau County Police.

At approximately 11:15 a.m. at the Green Acres Mall, located at 1015 Green Acres Mall, Sunrise Highway, the suspect attempted to shoplift clothes from Clique, a store on the mall’s second floor.

As he tried to leave the shop, a security guard for Clique attempted to stop the alleged thief, and the two got into a struggle.

The altercation continued from the store to the common area of the mall, where the suspect pulled out a gun and fired a single round.

He then fled the mall and hopped into a red SUV that drove off in an unknown direction.

No injuries were reported.

Police described the thief as a Black man in his mid-twenties. He stands 5-foot-9 with a thin build and has black hair with blonde-dyed tips.

He was wearing a red shirt with white insignia, blue jeans, and a gray sweatshirt.
